Flight Dynamics Engineer – London or Luxembourg

About the role

Clearspace is seeking a Flight Dynamics Engineer to support both current and future in‑orbit servicing and debris‑removal missions. The role involves end‑to‑end design, development, verification and operation of flight‑dynamics products, working closely with ground, operations and flight‑dynamics teams.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to mission‑design, aligning flight‑dynamics work with spacecraft development schedules and system architectures.
• Develop and specify flight‑dynamics algorithms and provide expertise during design reviews and bid proposals.
• Produce and maintain flight‑dynamics documentation, procedures, and operational concepts.
• Execute verification and validation plans using simulators, testbeds and flat‑stats.
• Perform on‑console flight‑dynamics operations in rotating shifts, including orbit determination, manoeuvre planning and collision‑avoidance approvals.
• Support anomaly resolution by troubleshooting flight‑dynamics software and participating in rapid‑response investigations.

Required profile

• Degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Astrodynamics, Aerospace, Engineering, Physics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of satellite industry experience, preferably covering the full lifecycle of a Low‑Earth‑Orbit mission.
• Strong knowledge of orbital mechanics and flight‑dynamics systems.

Required skills

• Mission analysis tools: GMAT, OREKIT, STK, FreeFlyer.
• Satellite navigation, orbit determination, manoeuvre, attitude and trajectory planning.
• Programming: Python, Java.
• Containerised environments: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Database experience: SQL, NoSQL.
• Simulation software: MATLAB (or similar).
