Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Prudentia Sciences is a scientific intelligence platform used by pharma, biotech and investment firms to speed up deal diligence. It is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to act as its senior technical presence inside client engagements: scoping problems with client stakeholders, integrating the platform with their systems and data, building configurations, workflows and extensions, and turning field insights into product and platform improvements. The role spans engineering, data, AI/ML and the commercial team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client onboarding and deployment, from discovery and scoping through go-live and expansion.
• Integrate the platform with client systems and data (databases, data rooms, document repositories, licensed datasets, identity providers) within their security and compliance requirements.
• Build client-specific workflows, configurations, models and extensions on the AWS-based platform, written to production standards.
• Apply AI capabilities (LLMs, retrieval, extraction, scenario and risk modeling) to client questions and judge whether outputs are accurate and defensible.
• Partner with the data team on onboarding new client and third-party data sources, and build evaluations and guardrails for client use cases.
• Act as the technical point of contact for accounts, support pre-sales technical discovery, pilots and proofs of value, and help build the forward deployed playbook.
• Bring back patterns, gaps and requests to engineering and product, and turn repeated one-offs into reusable components, templates and platform features.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including client-facing, forward deployed or technical consulting roles where shipped code was relied upon by clients.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences, and comfort with ambiguity and ownership.
• Bonus points: life sciences, biopharma, healthcare or financial services experience; early-stage startup experience; experience with SSO/SAML, data room APIs and data pipelines.

Required skills

• Full-stack or backend engineering: Python and SQL as a minimum, APIs and integrations, modern web stack.
• Hands-on AWS experience deploying and operating production systems, with awareness of security, networking and cost.
• Practical experience with LLMs and AI applications (retrieval, prompting, extraction, evaluation).
