Frontend Desktop Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Frontend Desktop Engineer to develop and maintain a cross‑platform peer‑to‑peer communication application. You will work on a decentralized platform that enables secure messaging, file sharing and real‑time collaboration without traditional server infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve a cross‑platform desktop application built with React and running on a peer‑to‑peer runtime.
• Implement responsive, intuitive user interfaces and optimise rendering performance, memory usage and overall responsiveness.
• Manage application state using Redux, Redux Toolkit, Zustand or equivalent solutions.
• Write modular, well‑tested code and contribute to the architecture of the frontend stack.
• Collaborate with a remote, international engineering team to deliver new peer‑to‑peer features.

Required profile

• Professional experience with React or Preact and modern JavaScript/TypeScript in production‑scale applications.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and interest in building performant, reliable desktop software.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a globally distributed remote team.
• Genuine interest in peer‑to‑peer technologies, distributed systems or decentralized applications.

Required skills

• React (or Preact), JavaScript, TypeScript
• State‑management libraries such as Redux, Redux Toolkit, Zustand
• Desktop runtimes like Electron or Tauri (advantageous)
• WebRTC, media streams, audio/video APIs (preferred)
• Cross‑platform development knowledge for macOS, Windows and Linux (plus)
