Functional Safety Manager

About the role

The Functional Safety Manager acts as the safety architect for complex, mobile integrated systems in a high‑tech vehicle manufacturing environment. You will oversee the full development lifecycle, from electrical/electronic architecture and embedded software design to on‑vehicle commissioning and test‑track validation.

Key responsibilities

• Hands‑on engineering and system testing on test benches and test tracks to validate safety concepts.
• Analyse and evaluate complex E/E architectures and safety‑critical embedded software.
• Conduct hazard analyses, risk assessments (HARA), derive ASIL requirements and define technical safety concepts.
• Collaborate as a technical sparring partner with software developers, system engineers and testing teams.
• Compile final safety cases, manage documentation and ensure successful system approval.

Required profile

• Completed degree (HF/FH/ETH) in Electrical, Systems, Software, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• 3+ years of practical functional safety experience, preferably in automotive, commercial vehicle, rail or special machinery sectors.
• In‑depth knowledge of ISO 26262 and/or IEC 61508 standards.
• Proficiency with HARA, FMEA, FTA and requirements management methods.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Official certification as a Functional Safety Engineer/Manager (e.g., TÜV).
