Global Category Manager – Direct Materials (Procurement)

About the role

We are seeking a Global Category Manager for Direct Materials to join the global procurement team of a leading international manufacturing business. The role is site‑based in the Landquart area and focuses on commercially driven management of direct material categories in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own global procurement categories for technically complex direct and raw materials.
• Lead commercial negotiations to achieve aggressive cost‑reduction targets while securing supply continuity.
• Conduct RFQs, benchmark supplier pricing and develop sourcing strategies that improve performance and reduce risk.
• Identify, qualify and onboard new suppliers where appropriate.
• Assess and mitigate supply‑chain risks across the portfolio.
• Drive supplier performance improvements in cost, quality and delivery.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders worldwide to monitor market trends and capture continuous‑improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Significant experience in category or strategic procurement for direct materials, preferably in automotive or fast‑moving industrial manufacturing.
• Proven track record of negotiating in challenging commercial environments with limited supplier options.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable cost savings while maintaining supply continuity.
• Strong commercial judgement and resilience under pressure.
