Global Category Manager – Laboratory Supplies

About the role

As Global Category Manager for Laboratory Supplies, you will shape worldwide sourcing strategies that support research, development and manufacturing at Lonza. You will work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver value, strengthen supplier partnerships and ensure reliable access to critical laboratory supplies and services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement global category and sourcing strategies for laboratory supplies, equipment and related services.
• Lead sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations and contracting to deliver value, improve service and reduce risk.
• Partner with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance and Operations to align procurement strategies with business needs.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of cost‑savings and value‑creation opportunities, ensuring accurate forecasting and tracking.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships through governance, business reviews and continuous improvement.
• Monitor market trends, supplier capabilities and emerging technologies to identify innovation opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Supply Chain Management, Procurement or related field.
• Extensive experience in category management, strategic sourcing or procurement within pharma or life‑sciences industry.
• Proven ability to lead complex sourcing initiatives and deliver measurable business value.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
• Fluency in English.
