Head Housekeeper – Private Household (Vaud)

About the role

The Head Housekeeper is responsible for the interior upkeep of all buildings across the employer's properties, keeping them ready at all times to receive the owners, their families and guests. The post covers the Housekeeping team and the linen room, and is based mainly in La Côte, with travel to the client's other properties in Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day organization and coordination of all housekeeping teams, including schedules, briefings, service meetings, appraisal interviews, rewards and sanctions
• Draft and implement procedures for the role and report regularly to the House Manager
• Train teams across all residences and take charge of housekeeping organisation while travelling abroad
• Keep homes clean and tidy, manage laundry (washing, ironing, storage), prepare bedrooms and bathrooms including turndown service
• Prepare family luggage, oversee the family wardrobe and its upkeep and marking, arrange flowers and order cleaning products

Required profile

• Solid, proven experience managing Housekeeping/linen teams, ideally in a private household, multi-property estate or 5-star hotel
• Able to train teams and help local staff develop across multiple sites
• Discretion and rigor in handling personal effects and wardrobe
• Flexible to variable hours and regular travel, including abroad

Required skills

• Managing schedules, budgets and stock
• Leadership: conducting appraisals, giving clear instructions and motivating teams
