Head of Finance

About the role

Adaptyv is building the world’s most automated biology lab and needs a finance leader to create an AI‑powered finance stack. As the first finance hire, you will own forecasting, margin analysis, pricing, close, cash management and compliance across its Swiss and US entities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a bottom‑up and top‑down financial model linking lab capacity, throughput, pricing and cash flow.
• Own gross‑margin analysis, determining the true cost of each experiment (reagents, consumables, instrument time, labour).
• Set and manage pricing strategy in partnership with commercial teams.
• Lead month‑end close, group consolidation and inter‑company accounting.
• Manage cash, bank and card accounts, AP/AR processes and treasury activities.
• Ensure tax, VAT, audit and payroll compliance, coordinating with external advisors.
• Support investor reporting, fundraising and equipment leasing decisions.
• Automate finance processes through APIs, code and data pipelines.

Required profile

• Several years building a finance function in a fast‑growing startup, preferably early‑stage.
• Hands‑on experience with financial modeling that ties operational metrics to cash flow.
• Strong understanding of cost structures in physical‑goods or lab environments.
• Experience with Swiss and European finance regulations; exposure to US entities is a plus.
• Ambitious, trustworthy and committed to growing with the company over the next few years.
