Head of Operations – Geneva Airport

About the role

Checkport, the ground‑handling subsidiary of Swissport at Geneva Airport, is seeking a dynamic Head of Operations. In this senior leadership position you will be accountable for the overall operational and commercial performance of the Geneva site, ensuring seamless service delivery in a fast‑paced airport environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for operational performance, service quality and safety compliance at Checkport Geneva.
• Lead, develop and motivate a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of accountability and employee engagement.
• Serve as the primary liaison with Geneva Airport authorities, cantonal officials, clients and other external stakeholders.
• Plan workforce levels and manage resources to match operational demand.
• Oversee commercial and financial results, including budgeting, cost control and identification of growth opportunities.
• Monitor KPIs, service levels, productivity and cost performance, driving continuous improvement.
• Ensure operational resilience and manage disruptions, adapting quickly to irregular operations and changing customer needs.

Required profile

• Several years of leadership experience in a service‑driven or operational setting, with a proven track record in people management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and assume commercial responsibility, including budgeting and cost management.
• Solid background in workforce planning and operational resource management, preferably within Switzerland.
• Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus.
• Strong communication skills, commercial mindset, resilience and decisive leadership in a fast‑moving environment.
