Immunization Investments and New Technologies Consultant

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a senior consultant to support the Global Programme Division in assessing investments in immunization supply chains and emerging technologies. The consultant will work remotely for a three‑month fixed‑term assignment, providing evidence‑based guidance to governments on optimizing vaccine availability, cold‑chain performance, and overall health impact.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze the economic and health outcomes of vaccine availability and cold‑chain effectiveness.
• Develop a decision‑framework to help governments prioritize investments in new supply‑chain technologies.
• Review and synthesize evidence on the cost‑effectiveness of various cold‑chain equipment and innovations.
• Provide recommendations aligned with WHO PQS standards and Gavi‑supported systems.
• Prepare concise reports and presentations for senior UNICEF staff and partner ministries.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Logistics, Public Health, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in immunization supply chain, vaccine logistics, or cold‑chain management at a global level.
• Demonstrated expertise in public‑health systems strengthening and familiarity with development‑sector procurement processes.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of WHO Pre‑Qualification Scheme (PQS) for cold‑chain equipment.
• Understanding of VIPS, INFUSE and other innovation portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of Vaccine and Cold Chain Management (VCCM) systems.
• Familiarity with Gavi‑supported immunization supply‑chain systems and processes.
