Installation & Maintenance Technician – CERN Accelerator

About the role

You will support a major upgrade programme of CERN's accelerator complex by installing, maintaining and replacing beam instrumentation systems. The role involves hands‑on work across various accelerator facilities, tracking interventions with CERN's management tools and coordinating progress with engineers and technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Remove equipment components for refurbishment or replacement.
• Install new instrumentation systems and upgrades throughout the accelerator complex.
• Track tasks using CERN's management tools and provide updates in team meetings.
• Coordinate with engineers, technicians and other groups to keep on‑site progress transparent.
• Work across different accelerator areas while following all safety protocols and ensuring precise, clean execution of technical interventions.

Required profile

• Comfortable using standard hand tools and basic technical equipment.
• No prior experience with particle accelerators required – training will be provided.
• Quick learner, attentive to detail and able to work with sensitive electronic and electromechanical equipment.
• Good communicator who works well in diverse technical teams.
• Fluent in spoken and written English, with a willingness to learn French.
• National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State, with up to two years of professional experience since graduation.
