Instrumentation Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Instrumentation Design Engineer to join a major international player in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector. The role focuses on detailed design engineering of complex production facilities, ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze P&IDs and process requirements to define instrumentation needs and design complete instrumentation systems.
• Develop and maintain instrument datasheets, I/O lists, cable lists, loop diagrams, and material take‑offs, ensuring consistency across all design documents.
• Collaborate with Process, Electrical, Automation, Construction and other engineering disciplines, participating in design reviews and addressing technical comments.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, ATEX, engineering standards and safety regulations throughout the design and execution phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instrumentation, Automation, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4 to 20 years of experience in industrial instrumentation design, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical or process industries.
• Proven ability to independently produce technical deliverables for instrumentation packages.
• Experience working in GMP‑regulated environments is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of P&IDs, instrument datasheets, I/O lists, cable lists, loop diagrams and material take‑offs (MTOs).
• Experience with instrumentation measurement and control devices (pressure, temperature, flow, level, etc.).
• Familiarity with DCS/PLC interfaces and automation system integration.
• Knowledge of COMOS (Siemens) and EPLAN is an advantage.
