Intern - Library Services and Knowledge Management

About the role

The Library Services Section of the UN Library & Archives Geneva is looking for up to six interns to start in Geneva in November 2026. The internship lasts 3 to 6 months and focuses on gaining experience in managing library collections and conducting research to support Library products and services. The focus depends on each candidate's background and the needs of the Section, and may relate to major conferences hosted by the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, the International Law Commission, or the Library's heritage collections and resource mobilization.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to providing metadata for the Library's collections and research products
• Participate in reference services in the UN Library reading rooms or in legal research
• Contribute to other projects and tasks of the Library Services team

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
• Or enrolled in or having completed the final year of a first university degree (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent)
• Fluency in spoken and written English; knowledge of French is desirable, and knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage

Interns are not paid by the United Nations; travel, visas, accommodation and living costs are the intern's or their sponsor's responsibility, and non-residents may need a visa and work authorization. The United Nations charges no fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
