International VAT & Indirect Tax Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced International VAT & Indirect Tax Manager to join Semtech’s Swiss Finance team in Rapperswil. The role combines deep VAT expertise with strategic advisory and technology‑driven process improvement across a multinational semiconductor business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi‑jurisdictional VAT compliance across Europe and other regions, including registrations, filings, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat reporting, reconciliations and handling tax audits.
• Own SAP VAT configuration and optimisation, managing tax codes, VAT tables, automated tax determination logic and master‑data classification in SAP FI, SD and MM.
• Provide strategic VAT advice on cross‑border transactions such as reverse charge, triangulation, imports/exports and digital compliance.
• Support finance technology initiatives, including ERP upgrades (ECC to S/4HANA), process automation and integration of third‑party tax engines like Vertex.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Law or a related field.
• 3‑5+ years of experience in VAT/indirect tax compliance, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Commercially minded with strong analytical abilities.

Required skills

• SAP (FI, SD, MM) VAT configuration and maintenance.
• ERP systems – experience with SAP ECC and S/4HANA upgrades.
• Knowledge of VAT compliance processes, EC Sales Lists and Intrastat reporting.
• Familiarity with third‑party tax engines such as Vertex.
