Internship: Drug Disposition and Bioanalysis (tDMPK-PD, PS, pRED)
roche · Basel
Job description
About the role
Roche's Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED) organisation is looking for an intern in the tDMPK-PD Drug Disposition and Bioanalysis (DDB) section of the Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) function, based in Basel. The internship runs for 12 months starting on 1 February 2027 and sits in the ADME sections, which follow new chemical entities and biologics from lead optimisation through clinical development and filing. The role combines hands-on in vitro experiments with pre-clinical physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling.
Key responsibilities
- Drive in vitro data collection and advance PBPK modelling techniques to assess the PK of emerging biologics.
- Perform hands-on in vitro experiments to investigate system stability and target-mediated degradation of drug candidates.
- Test the feasibility of building bottom-up PBPK models from pre-clinical results to forecast clinical PK profiles.
- Design, refine and validate in vitro methods for target quantification, target-mediated degradation and candidate stability.
- Work with high-content imaging, automated platforms and capillary electrophoresis (CE)-SDS immunoassays.
- Develop an end-to-end understanding of PBPK modelling in global pharmaceutical development.
Required profile
- University degree in progress or completed within the last 12 months before the start date, preferably in pharmacy, pharmacology, biochemistry or molecular biology.
- Practical experience in in vitro methods (cell culture, microscopy, high-content imaging, western blotting, ELISA) and strong problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn PBPK modelling approaches for biologics.
- Fluent written and spoken English; German or French is a plus.
- For non-EU/Non-EFTA citizens, a university confirmation that the internship is part of the curriculum and continuous enrolment is required.
Required skills
- In vitro experimental methods (cell culture, microscopy, western blotting, ELISA)
- Digital tools such as Microsoft Office, R Studio and GraphPad Prism
- Familiarity with pharmacokinetic and PBPK modelling is a plus
The internship is purely practical, so an academic thesis cannot be done alongside it. Preferred start date is February 2027, and the duration is 6-12 months. Applicants submit a CV, a motivation letter and a certificate of enrolment or degree certificate.
