Internship Process Engineer (12 Months, Basel)

About the role

Roche's Process Validation Chapter, part of the Basel Drug Substance Manufacturing organization, supports the validation of production processes during routine commercial manufacturing, technology transfers, process optimizations and the introduction of new technologies. This 12-month internship is based in Basel, Switzerland, and focuses on process validation strategy, execution and projects.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to process validation strategies, execution and projects to support manufacturing operations.
• Support technical process technology transfers, helping move processes from development to commercial-scale manufacturing.
• Manage end-to-end validation deliverables, including conceptual work, plan creation, training implementation, sample coordination, data interpretation and report preparation.
• Plan and coordinate cross-functional troubleshooting with pilot laboratories, production and the quality department.
• Process deviations and changes in full compliance with GMP guidelines.
• Take part in optimization projects to improve efficiency and process robustness.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program, or completed your degree within the last 12 months before the start date, in a scientific or technical field, preferably biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, (bio)chemical engineering, pharmacy or biology.
• Practical experience or solid knowledge of working in a regulated GMP environment.
• Collaborative, independent team player who adapts quickly to a fast-paced setting.
• Fluent English; conversational German is an asset.
