Junior Business Controller – Commodity Trading

About the role

Join a leading Swiss trading house that operates globally in refined products and petrochemicals. As a Junior Business Controller you will support the Business Control department, ensuring financial integrity and helping drive operational excellence across commodity trading activities. You will report directly to the CFO and work alongside experienced industry professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary gatekeeper for data accuracy across Trading, Operations, and Back‑Office streams.
• Assist the Senior Controller in budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning.
• Prepare insightful performance reports and monitor key performance indicators for management decision‑making.
• Support monthly variance analysis and produce detailed reports against budgets and forecasts.
• Identify and lead process‑optimization initiatives to streamline reporting and improve efficiency.
• Monitor compliance with internal reporting standards.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in business controlling, preferably within commodity trading.
• Strong analytical mindset with a pragmatic problem‑solving approach.
• High sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.
• Fluency in English.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of VBA programming (advantageous).
• Experience with Power BI for data visualisation.
