Junior Research Assistant – Packaging Safety

About the role

As a Junior Research Assistant in Packaging Safety at Nestlé Research, you will develop, validate and apply analytical methods for novel coated paper packaging materials, collaborating with research colleagues, operations teams, quality managers and external partners to create sustainable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of robust analytical methods that assess the safety and performance of innovative packaging materials.
• Perform packaging characterization analyses that support reliable research outcomes and project decisions.
• Consolidate and interpret data and write clear analytical documentation for quality, research and project teams.
• Participate in transferring analytical methods to operations and support end users throughout the method lifecycle.
• Engage with internal and external partners to stay at the forefront of packaging safety science and analytical technologies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• Strong interest in analytical sciences, packaging safety and sustainable packaging technologies.
• Hands‑on laboratory experience from academic projects, internships or research activities.
• Working proficiency in English and French.

• Gas chromatography‑mass spectrometry (GC‑MS).
• Liquid chromatography‑high resolution mass spectrometry (LC‑HRMS).
• Material characterization techniques.
• Data analysis and scientific reporting.
