About the role
Join Julius Baer’s Global Sanctions Advisory Desk in Zurich as a Junior Sanctions Advisory Officer. You will support the implementation and enhancement of the group‑wide sanctions compliance programme, working closely with internal functions, local compliance units, and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Define and handle clients with sanctions nexus and conduct materiality assessments.
- Assess and manage all aspects of sanctioned parties (SDN) relationships with the bank.
- Support the team as a centre of competence for daily sanctions‑related tasks.
- Apply sanctions laws, regulations and programmes, implementing specific measures across the group.
- Advise colleagues on the Global Sanctions Policy and monitor legal and regulatory developments.
- Exchange knowledge with local compliance units across group affiliates.
- Interact with counterparties, authorities and peers within the financial sector’s network.
Required profile
- University degree (Bachelor or Master) preferably in Economics, Law, Audit, Finance or a comparable field; or a completed bank apprenticeship with further education.
- 3‑5 years of professional experience in Compliance, Risk, Audit, Legal or related areas, with specific sanctions knowledge.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and a strong willingness to learn.
- Team player with a strong personality who can provide practical solutions and work independently.
