About the role
As a Lab Data Technology Specialist in Nestlé Research’s Computational Sciences department, you will strengthen laboratory data foundations to unlock the full value of scientific instrument data. You will work at the intersection of science, data engineering and AI to transform raw, heterogeneous data into trusted, reusable assets that accelerate research.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with laboratory stakeholders, data domain owners and engineers to translate functional requirements into scalable, well‑documented technical solutions.
- Enable end‑to‑end connectivity for new and existing laboratory instruments, defining data flows between LIMS, robotics, automation platforms and downstream systems.
- Customize and integrate digital lab platforms (LIMS, ELN, metadata capture) to improve efficiency, quality, traceability and governance.
- Identify opportunities to increase the value of lab data through integrations, warehousing and automated quality checks.
- Support testing, deployment, change management and continuous improvement of compliant, scalable lab solutions, including AI‑enabled data flows.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific or computational discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Data Engineering) or equivalent experience.
- Solid experience applying data engineering to scientific or laboratory data.
Required skills
- LIMS customization, data modeling and integration.
- Integration of lab instruments, robots and IoT with databases and data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake).
- Programming languages: Python, R, Java, Groovy.
- Data engineering tools: Airflow, dbt, APIs, SQL/NoSQL, Git, CI/CD, testing, data quality, observability.
- Knowledge of ELN, CDS, LES, multi‑omics pipelines, barcode systems.
- Semantic modeling, ontologies, RDF/SPARQL, FAIR data implementation, metadata management.
- Reporting tools such as Dash, Streamlit, Power BI.
