Lab Technician, Molecular Biology

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated laboratory where AI agents design and interpret biology experiments. As a Lab Technician in the Biology team, you will execute molecular biology and protein production workflows that feed the company’s AI‑driven protein engineering pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Perform molecular cloning using PCR, Golden Gate and Gibson assembly, followed by transformation and colony screening.
• Run protein expression in bacterial and/or mammalian systems, then purify and conduct quality‑control assays.
• Execute QC methods such as gel/capillary electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing, SDS‑PAGE and related assays.
• Carry out biophysical and functional characterisation (binding kinetics, thermostability, etc.) and help scale new assays.
• Prepare reagents, buffers and reaction mixes according to SOPs.
• Operate and support automated liquid‑handling and other lab‑automation equipment.
• Track samples, inventory and consumables to ensure uninterrupted lab operations.
• Document experimental parameters and results for reproducibility and data integrity.
• Assist in troubleshooting, optimisation and scaling of workflows.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Life‑Science Engineering or related field.
• At least one year of hands‑on laboratory experience in molecular biology (academic or industry).
