Laboratory Process Improvement Intern

About the role

Labcorp is looking for a Laboratory Process Improvement Intern to join its General Laboratory team in Geneva. The internship lasts 5 to 6 months, Monday to Friday, at 40 hours per week (an 80% schedule can be considered), and is paid. It focuses on assessing and improving two operational workflows: delayed batched testing and the MSDS review process.

Key responsibilities

• Map the current delayed batched testing process, documenting steps, responsibilities, handoffs, decision points and timing.
• Review the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) review workflow with the teams involved to find bottlenecks, duplication and unclear responsibilities.
• Gather staff feedback and analyse operational data to separate necessary waiting steps from avoidable delays.
• Develop proposed workflows and prioritise improvements by expected benefit, feasibility and quality requirements.
• Support a pilot of selected improvements where possible, define measures to assess their impact and document recommendations for process owners.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's programme in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences or a related field; a Master's programme is preferred.
• Student eligible for an internship agreement with a third party.
• Intermediate level of English and French.
• Ability to work collaboratively, listen to different views and communicate recommendations respectfully.
• Initiative, attention to detail, confidentiality and commitment to quality and laboratory procedures.
