About the role
Lead the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EIC) department for global DAC projects, defining technical direction, specifications and design philosophies while ensuring safety, operability and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Define and maintain EIC technical direction, develop fit‑for‑purpose specifications, design philosophies and basis of design for global execution.
- Review and approve contractor submissions on power distribution, control system architecture and instrumentation, enforcing owner requirements and schedule.
- Lead reliability and innovation initiatives, troubleshoot issues and introduce emerging technologies such as smart instrumentation and advanced control systems.
- Collaborate with process, mechanical and project teams to integrate designs, mitigate risks and support cost‑schedule estimates.
- Supervise and coach junior engineers, drive lessons‑learned sessions and maintain comprehensive technical records.
- Incorporate cold‑weather and constructability considerations for the Alberta DAC plant, including freeze protection, winterization and heat‑tracing strategies.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent) with at least 10 years of experience in process plants, preferably in cold‑weather environments.
- Hands‑on involvement in a full‑cycle project (FEED to commissioning) in mining, water treatment, oil & gas or similar industries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent English and ability to travel up to 60 % of the time.
- Precise, adaptable, proactive and highly organized, comfortable making decisions both in office and field.
