Lead Project Engineer

About the role

The Project Engineering Lead will drive end‑to‑end leadership of complex R&D and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs in turbomachinery and propulsion. Reporting to senior management, the role ensures strategic alignment, disciplined execution and delivery across the full product development lifecycle, from concept through validation and industrialisation.

Key responsibilities

• Own the overall R&D/NPI program plan, aligning scope, milestones and deliverables with business and technology strategy.
• Translate product and technology roadmaps into executable programs with clear phase‑gates and success criteria.
• Ensure alignment of multiple projects to deliver integrated outcomes.
• Lead and orchestrate cross‑functional teams including R&D, engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, regulatory and product management.
• Establish and enforce common processes, templates and governance.
• Act as the primary escalation point for program‑level issues, dependencies and trade‑offs.
• Build and maintain integrated program schedules, managing inter‑project dependencies, critical paths and milestones.
• Monitor progress, risks and issues across the portfolio and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure disciplined change management for scope, schedule and resource impacts.
• Establish program governance cadence (reviews, steering committees, gate readiness).
• Identify technical, operational and execution risks; ensure mitigation plans are in place.
• Prepare fact‑based decision material to support leadership trade‑offs on priorities, resources and investments.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading complex, multi‑disciplinary R&D and NPI programs.
• Strong ability to coordinate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, regulatory and product management functions.
• Excellent risk identification and mitigation skills.
• Experience establishing program governance, reviews and decision‑making processes.
• Effective communication and escalation management for high‑impact issues.
