Lecturer – Law of International Organizations

About the role

The Swiss School for International Relations seeks a Lecturer to teach an undergraduate course on the Law of International Organizations. The position is based in Geneva and runs for the Autumn 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters, with a teaching load of 2–8 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver a core undergraduate course covering legal structures, functions and accountability of bodies such as the UN, WTO, WHO and other intergovernmental institutions.
• Integrate current legal developments and case studies, including Security Council decisions, ICJ opinions and WTO dispute settlements.
• Encourage critical analysis of legal personality, privileges, immunities and internal governance of international organisations.
• Participate in curriculum development and update course materials to reflect emerging global‑governance challenges.
• Foster an interactive classroom environment that promotes student engagement with complex legal systems.

Required profile

• PhD in Law with a specialization in International Law, Law of International Organizations or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in the legal frameworks of international organisations.
• Teaching experience in public international law or institutional law at the undergraduate or graduate level.
• Familiarity with current institutional reforms, treaty interpretation and compliance mechanisms.
• Strong ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly in English.
• Swiss or EU citizenship, or a valid work permit for Switzerland.
