Linux Systems & DevOps Engineer

About the role

You will join an experienced infrastructure team that operates, improves, and expands Linux‑based computing platforms supporting internationally recognised research programmes. The position is hybrid and fixed‑term, initially running until March 2029.

Key responsibilities

• Manage enterprise Linux infrastructure and large‑scale compute clusters.
• Automate system administration, deployments and configuration using tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
• Troubleshoot complex production environments and ensure high availability.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, researchers and technical users.
• Contribute to capacity planning, future infrastructure improvements and documentation.

Required profile

• Strong Linux systems administration experience in production environments.
• Proven experience supporting clustered or high‑performance computing infrastructure.
• Hands‑on automation experience (Ansible, Puppet or similar).
• Proficiency in Bash and/or Python scripting.
• Solid Git version‑control skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting abilities and effective communication.
