Manager Finance and Controlling

About the role

Basel Area Business & Innovation, the economic promotion agency for the Basel Area and manager of the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area, is strengthening its Shared Services team. It is looking for an experienced, proactive Manager Finance and Controlling (100% workload) to cover finance and controlling for both the agency and the Innovation Park. You will work in a small, collaborative team, combining financial expertise with a hands-on approach, and guide an Associate Manager Administration and Accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure reliable financial accounting and prepare and coordinate annual financial statements and audits with internal and external partners.
• Prepare and coordinate budgets, forecasts and financial plans, monitor performance and report regularly to management and business units.
• Act as a financial sparring partner, advising on financial planning, budgeting and controlling.
• Monitor project budgets, funding agreements and financial KPIs, flagging deviations and following up on measures.
• Manage and coordinate key partnership, stakeholder and business contracts, including preparation, review and monitoring, with external legal advisors where needed.
• Maintain and improve financial processes, internal controls and reporting structures.

Required profile

• Education in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field, ideally with a professional qualification.
• Several years of practical experience in finance, accounting and controlling, including annual financial statements under Swiss accounting standards.
• Structured, analytical and reliable, with strong communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues from different backgrounds.
• Fluent German and English; French is an advantage.
• Experience in contract management, project-based or publicly funded organisations is a plus.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis.
• Very good knowledge of financial systems and Excel; experience with Abacus is an advantage.
