Market Risk Manager - Oil Products

About the role

Trafigura is looking for an experienced Market Risk Manager for its physical oil products line. The role reports to the Head of Market Risk Physical Oil Products and sits with the Market Risk team in Geneva, close to global trading desks and IT teams. It covers aggregation of exposure, identification of concentrated risks, risk scenario analysis and collaboration with front office and senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Aggregate and analyse exposure across physical oil products, identify concentrated risks and set and monitor risk limits aligned with the company's risk appetite
• Design and run risk scenarios, historical analysis, ad hoc scenarios and stress tests, ensure accurate VaR calculations and provide detailed P&L breakdowns
• Monitor market dynamics, pricing mechanisms and trading strategies continuously
• Work with the front office, senior management and IT teams to share risk insights and improve risk management tools
• Help develop risk management systems with robust data integration and real-time data, using SQL, Python and AI
• Keep abreast of global regulations such as environmental policies, sanctions and trade restrictions, and lead the establishment of contractual risk management processes

Required profile

• At least 10 years of experience as a trader or risk manager in physical oil products at a reputable physical commodities trading house
• Deep knowledge of physical oil markets, pricing, logistics, quality, blending and market dynamics
• Proven experience in aggregating exposure, managing concentrated risks and reporting to senior management
• Good knowledge of financial derivatives is a must-have
• Preferred: experience developing risk management systems in a trading environment and familiarity with Trafigura's business model
