Mechanical Design Engineer – Fluid Dynamics Specialist

About the role

The Liquid Handling Team in Rotkreuz develops fluid systems for diagnostic instruments. As a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in fluid dynamics, you will evaluate and develop new liquid‑handling technologies for IVD product development.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and assess new technologies, define and verify parameter settings to achieve target pipetting performance.
• Support technical implementation of liquid‑handling solutions, assist design engineers with CFD‑based component optimisation, and validate simulations experimentally.
• Lead feasibility studies, design and commission test benches, and program test sequences in Python and C#.

Required profile

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Fluid Dynamics.
• 1–3 years of hands‑on experience with CFD software, including grid generation, simulation and post‑processing.
• Strong analytical skills, structured problem‑solving approach, and enthusiasm for experimental fluid dynamics.

Required skills

• CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM)
• Programming in Python and C#
• Experience with modern AI tools such as Gemini or Claude Code for solution development
