Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Menhir Photonics, a Swiss laser manufacturer, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the development and production of ultrafast laser modules. The role focuses on mechanical design, tolerance analysis, and collaboration with suppliers to ensure robust, mass‑producible optomechanical components.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical projects for optomechanical and optoelectronic subsystems.
• Design CAD sub‑assemblies and interfaces using SolidWorks.
• Perform tolerance and GD&T analyses to verify mechanical feasibility.
• Create detailed 2D drawings with First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation.
• Select materials and bonding technologies suitable for high‑performance, high‑volume production.
• Coordinate with external workshops, suppliers, and internal project managers.
• Maintain ISO 9001 quality standards throughout the development cycle.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical or optomechanical engineering.
• Degree (HF, FH, Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Mechanical or Optomechanical Engineering.
• Fluent in English and German.
• Experience working with optical modules, clean‑room assembly, and thermal‑mechanical material properties.
