Mechanical Engineer – Power Electronics Packaging

About the role

RIVR, an Amazon company, is developing autonomous robots for doorstep delivery and needs a Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical architecture, packaging, and harness routing for power distribution boards and control systems. The role focuses on lightweight structural design, thermal management, and high‑volume manufacturing readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic enclosures for power boards and computational units from concept through mass production.
• Resolve mechanical challenges such as electrical isolation, sealing, thermal management, shock, vibration, and EMI.
• Perform thermal, CFD, and structural (FEA) analyses and define validation test suites.
• Create 2D drawings, documentation, and ensure manufacturability through DFM negotiations and DFA analysis.
• Lead supplier discussions, select manufacturing processes (die casting, injection molding, etc.), and develop test plans with root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• 6+ years of hands‑on experience designing electro‑mechanical assemblies, enclosures, and wire harnesses for moving platforms.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, material science, GD&T, and PLM systems.

Required skills

• CAD tools: SolidWorks, Siemens NX, CATIA.
• Simulation tools: ANSYS, COMSOL for thermal, CFD, and FEA analysis.
• Manufacturing processes: die casting, injection molding, compression molding, thixomolding, progressive stamping, extrusion.
• Wire harness design, connector and terminal specification, 2D layout creation.
• Test plan development, root‑cause analysis, and DFM/DFA expertise.
