Mechanical Engineer – Solid Fertilizer Plant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering teams and support the design and execution of industrial fertilizer projects. The role focuses on mechanical design, equipment sizing, and technical specification for solid fertilizer plants, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review mechanical designs of static and proprietary equipment used in fertilizer plants.
• Perform design calculations, sizing activities, and technical assessments to meet performance and safety requirements.
• Define technical characteristics, construction requirements, and prepare specifications for equipment, materials, fabrication, and construction.
• Collaborate with drafting teams to produce and review technical drawings.
• Select materials for static equipment, proprietary equipment, and piping systems, including steel and FRP.
• Assess welding requirements, fabrication methods, and manufacturing sequences in line with licensor and operating conditions.
• Coordinate with Process, Plant Engineering, Procurement, and Project teams throughout execution.
• Prepare material and service requisitions, review technical bids, and evaluate supplier proposals.
• Support procurement by clarifying technical requirements and managing technical follow‑up during manufacturing.
• Review and approve supplier documentation, collaborate with Quality teams on inspection test plans, and resolve non‑conformities.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Extensive experience designing equipment for fertilizer production facilities (DAP, NPK, SSP, CAN, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of equipment such as scrubbing columns, venturi scrubbers, granulators, drum dryers, fluidized‑bed coolers, cyclones, tanks and filters.
• Experience with steel and FRP equipment design and fabrication.
• Deep understanding of mechanical calculations, material selection, welding technologies and manufacturing processes.
