Mechanical Engineer – Traction Transformer Design

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and optimisation of traction transformer equipment. You will work on energy‑related projects, ensuring reliability, efficiency and safety of our solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute mechanical design activities for traction transformer equipment.
• Develop and review technical specifications, engineering drawings, 3D models and related documentation.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, manufacturing, supply chain and project management teams for seamless integration.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and FMEA activities.
• Evaluate and select materials, manufacturing processes and components for performance and cost efficiency.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, installation, commissioning and field operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or engineering school qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in mechanical design and engineering within the power products industry.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo, Catia) and PLM/PDM systems.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, stress analysis and materials science.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
