Mechanical Engineering Internship

About the role

Gravis Robotics is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support the design and development of hardware that converts conventional excavators into autonomous machines. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in Zurich, contributing to rapid‑prototype, testing, and production phases of cutting‑edge robotic systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs for next‑generation vehicle integration packages.
• Create custom tools and fixtures to improve production efficiency.
• Plan and execute testing campaigns, including prototype and low‑volume production validation.
• Prepare manufacturing bring‑up plans as designs transition to mass production.
• Work closely with electrical engineers to integrate components into complete systems.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering or related program at a Swiss university.
• Strong ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Fusion 360).
• Experience with mechatronic hardware systems.
• Familiarity with ECAD tools such as KiCad or Altium.
• Knowledge of product development, manufacturing technologies, and robotics middleware (ROS/ROS2).
