Medical Lead, Lupus – Regional Strategy & Execution

About the role

The BIR (Biogen Intercontinental Region) Medical Lead, Lupus, provides strategic medical leadership across the Lupus portfolio, linking global strategy with regional affiliate needs. This senior role shapes medical strategy, pipeline development, launch readiness, evidence generation and lifecycle management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead regional medical strategy and execution, ensuring affiliate insights and evolving standards of care inform global plans.
• Provide medical input to clinical development, evidence generation, publication planning and launch activities.
• Partner with affiliates and cross‑functional teams (Medical, Commercial, CE&O, Corporate Affairs, Value & Access) to maintain a consistent medical voice.
• Identify evidence, access and patient‑journey gaps and deliver strategic recommendations.
• Build and maintain relationships with key medical experts, healthcare organizations, scientific societies and patient advocacy groups.
• Support development and execution of regional medical plans aligned with global priorities.

Required profile

• Advanced scientific or medical degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD) with at least 10 years of pharma/biotech experience.
• Strong Lupus expertise and understanding of the therapeutic landscape.
• Experience working at affiliate and regional/global levels, supporting multiple markets.
• Proven ability to translate regional insights into global medical strategy.
• Excellent scientific communication, stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking.
