MES Engineer – Manufacturing Execution Systems

About the role

The MES Engineer is responsible for the reliable implementation, operation and continuous improvement of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) across our global chemical manufacturing sites. Working under the MES Application Owner, you will provide day‑to‑day user support, manage change requests and lead MES deployments and upgrades at local plants.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver second‑ and third‑line support for MES incidents, diagnosing and resolving issues to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Coordinate and execute MES deployments, upgrades and configuration changes in collaboration with plant managers, OT and IT teams.
• Manage change‑request lifecycle from request intake through testing, approval and implementation.
• Work with external MES vendors and system integrators, reviewing deliverables and handling escalations.
• Maintain compliance with chemical industry regulations and internal quality standards.
• Travel to production sites (approximately 20‑40% of time) to provide on‑site support and oversee installations.

Required profile

• Experience supporting and implementing MES solutions in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with chemical or process industry regulations and production processes.
• Ability to work across multiple sites and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel regularly to plant locations.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with MES platforms (e.g., Siemens Opcenter, Wonderware).
• Knowledge of SCADA systems and OT networking.
• Understanding of ERP integration, particularly SAP.
• Incident management and change‑request handling.
• System deployment, upgrade and configuration expertise.
