MES Engineer – Manufacturing Execution Systems

About the role

The MES Engineer is responsible for the reliable implementation, operation and continuous improvement of Manufacturing Execution Systems across multiple chemical production sites worldwide. Working under the MES Application Owner, the role provides day‑to‑day user support, manages change requests and leads system deployments and upgrades.

Key responsibilities

• Provide second‑line and third‑line support for MES‑related incidents and user queries.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve system issues to maintain uninterrupted production.
• Manage change requests from initiation through implementation, ensuring compliance with plant and corporate standards.
• Lead MES deployments, upgrades and configuration changes at local plants.
• Coordinate with Operations, Process Owners, SCADA engineers, OT vendors, ERP (SAP) teams and IT infrastructure to deliver integrated solutions.
• Support the global OT application strategy and ensure alignment with chemical industry regulations.
• Travel to production sites (estimated 20‑40% of time) for on‑site support and project work.

Required profile

• Experience working in a multinational manufacturing environment, preferably chemical production.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with shop‑floor users and cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel regularly to plant locations.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and quality standards.
