Middle School Substitute Teacher (Grades 6-8)

About the role

The International School Zurich (ISZL) seeks a qualified Substitute Teacher to provide coverage for middle‑school classes (Grades 6‑8) at its Zug campus. This on‑site, as‑needed role supports teachers who are absent due to illness or professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lesson plans and maintain classroom routines as directed by the Assistant Principals.
• Support students with medical, learning (EAL, LS) or behavioral needs.
• Provide immediate feedback to students and detailed observations to the regular teacher.
• Communicate general information to parents, referring specific concerns to the classroom teacher.
• Assist with outdoor learning activities and supervise the lunchroom.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Middle School Principal or Assistant Principals.

Required profile

• Qualified and experienced teacher, preferably with experience across multiple age groups.
• Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, maintain confidentiality, and adapt under pressure.
• Friendly, pleasant personality.
• Swiss or EU passport/valid Swiss work permit (or approved visa).
