Mobile Engineer - React Native (100% Remote)

About the role

Tether is looking for a Mobile Engineer to develop and maintain Keet Mobile, a peer‑to‑peer chat and calling app for iOS and Android. The app is built with React Native and Expo, leveraging a custom JavaScript runtime for P2P functionality. You will work remotely with a global team of engineers, designers, and product managers.

Key responsibilities

• Build and polish features across chat, voice and video calls, media sharing, device pairing and identity backup.
• Integrate native platform capabilities such as push notifications, camera, biometrics and background tasks on both iOS and Android.
• Profile and optimise performance on real devices, including startup time, long chats, media handling, battery and network usage.
• Write unit and end‑to‑end tests, maintain CI pipelines and monitor crash reporting to keep releases stable.
• Collaborate closely with core P2P, design and product teams and conduct high‑quality code reviews.

Required profile

• Significant experience with React Native, Redux for state management and Redux‑Saga.
• Highly proficient in JavaScript (ES6+) and experienced with WebSockets and RESTful APIs.
• Experience working in a remote, distributed team.
• Interest in modernising and optimising mobile or web applications.
