Nature Finance Internship – UNEP FI

About the role

The UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Nature Internship offers the chance to join a motivated team working on cutting‑edge initiatives that mainstream Nature Finance across financial actors, such as the Taskforce on Nature‑related Financial Disclosure and the Sustainable Blue Economy Finance Initiative.

Key responsibilities

• Support internal work aligning financial flows with the Global Biodiversity Framework, covering portfolio alignment, TNFD, blue/ocean finance, food systems and biodiversity credits.
• Conduct desktop research on nature‑finance metrics, indicators and data, and analyse real‑world project pipelines and market developments.
• Collect and synthesize information from technical reports, industry publications, webinars and company disclosures, turning academic findings into digestible highlights.
• Prepare targeted presentations, briefing notes and speaking points based on applied research.
• Provide project coordination, administrative and communications support, including tracking sheets, call organisation and minute‑taking.
• Initiate an applied research piece on a relevant topic and undertake additional duties aligned with personal interests.

Required profile

• Final‑year undergraduate, master’s or Ph.D. student (or recent graduate) in Environmental Studies, Finance, Business Administration or related fields.
• Strong quantitative and technical abilities relevant to ecosystems, risk or sustainable finance, with excellent research, writing and communication skills in English.
• Self‑motivation, high degree of organisation and ability to work independently.
