Postdoctoral Fellow in Spin-Orbitronics

About the role

The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland's largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow in Spin-Orbitronics for its Laboratory for Multiscale Materials Experiments. The fellowship starts on 1 January 2027 and is limited to 2 years.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on linear and nonlinear charge, spin and orbital transport using magneto-transport measurements at cryogenic temperatures and X-ray spectroscopy (synchrotron beamtime at PSI-SLS and abroad)
• Support the research activities and maintain the infrastructure (electronic transport and magnetometry) of the PPM group
• Present research at international conferences and publish results in scientific journals
• Contribute to the supervision of PhD students

Required profile

• PhD in Condensed Matter Physics or Material Science, preferably in spintronics or magnetism
• Fluent in written and spoken English

Required skills

• Experience with electronic transport measurements and synchrotron-based measurements
• Cleanroom-based nanofabrication
• Python coding
