Postdoctoral Researcher in Building Technology

About the role

The Structural Xploration Lab at EPFL is looking for a postdoctoral researcher in building technology, based in Fribourg. The main research activity concerns the characterization and circular performance assessment of building envelopes in Europe, covering construction details, building archetypes and large-scale inference of building stocks, within a EU Horizon project with foreign industrial and research partners. The candidate may also contribute to other research and teaching activities and supervise bachelor's and master's students.

Required profile

• PhD in building technology, preferably in building materials, building envelope performance or building renovation
• Familiarity with contemporary construction techniques and an interest in 20th-century construction techniques or vernacular architecture
• A master's degree or professional experience in architecture is preferred but not required

Required skills

• Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Building Information Modelling (BIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or computer programming is a plus

What we offer

• 9-month renewable contract, with an employment rate of 80% to 100% depending on availability
