Project Manager Primary Engineering (GIS Switchgear)

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY is looking for a motivated Project Manager Primary Engineering to lead the technical planning and execution of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) projects. The role ensures that engineering deliverables are completed on time, within scope and to the required quality standards. It is a full-time position based in Zurich.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage the Primary Engineering scope in GIS customer projects, including cost, schedule and scope of delivery
• Coordinate technical solutions with customers and internal stakeholders
• Prepare the technical detailing of the high-voltage part of gas-insulated switchgear
• Create the documentation needed for ordering, fabrication, assembly and customer approval
• Order and configure project-specific materials
• Manage technical communication channels internally and externally
• Work on quality cases and support improvement processes
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, installation and commissioning until on-site assembly is complete
• Travel occasionally for customer meetings or site visits

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
• Several years of relevant experience in project engineering, ideally with gas-insulated switchgear or high-voltage systems
• Good understanding of engineering project execution, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, documentation and material ordering
• Experience coordinating internal and external stakeholders in an international environment
• Fluent English; German or another language is an advantage

• Analytical and problem-solving skills, risk identification and stakeholder coordination
