R&D Control Hardware Team Lead (f/m/d) 80-100%

About the role

In this position you will lead a team of R&D engineers focused on control hardware for medium‑voltage drives. The role is based in Switzerland, works in a hybrid model and contributes to ABB’s Motion High Power Solutions portfolio, collaborating closely with product management, service and product engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, guide and supervise a team of control‑hardware and firmware experts responsible for medium‑voltage drives.
• Coordinate the complete electronics development process, including requirements engineering, design, implementation, testing and maintenance of PCBA, FPGA and auxiliary control systems.
• Ensure effective operational procedures and seamless collaboration with local and global R&D and engineering teams.
• Perform line‑management duties such as hiring, HR development and task coordination at the team level.

Required profile

• Strong background in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven track record in PCBA and electronics development.
• Experience in project management and/or electronics development.
• Well‑developed organisational and strategic abilities.
• Excellent command of English, preferably complemented by German.
