R&D Engineer – Electrical Test Infrastructure

About the role

ABB is seeking an R&D Engineer to design, develop and maintain test infrastructures for low‑voltage three‑phase systems. The role is based onsite in Quartino and reports to the R&D Team Lead and CoE Laboratory Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain electrical test infrastructures for LV three‑phase systems, ensuring compliance with IEC and UL standards.
• Develop and validate embedded firmware (C‑based) and PLC control solutions for laboratory testing environments.
• Plan and execute functional, performance and safety tests on hardware prototypes and test setups.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional R&D teams to define requirements, solve technical challenges and maintain accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic or Automation Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in embedded firmware development for microcontroller‑based systems.
• Knowledge of low‑voltage three‑phase electrical systems, power distribution or UPS technologies.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in a hands‑on laboratory environment.
