Registered Nurse (Casual Part Time)

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct resident care, medication administration, and documentation in a long‑term care setting. Reporting to the Director of Health and Wellness and the Director of Care, the RN works closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality, compliant care for seniors.

Key responsibilities

• Complete and maintain resident care assessments, service plans, and documentation for billing.
• Schedule and participate in resident care conferences.
• Assist with resident move‑ins, transfers, and discharge planning.
• Order, safeguard, and administer drugs and narcotics in compliance with regulations.
• Provide education to residents and families.
• Supervise self‑medication audits and delegate medication tasks to unregulated care providers.
• Develop, coordinate, and evaluate resident care plans with physicians and the care team.
• Assign nursing team workloads to ensure timely service delivery.
• Respond to changes in resident condition, medical emergencies, and act as emergency supervisor when needed.
• Address resident/family concerns and communicate with senior leadership.
• Support infection prevention, health and safety, and quality programs.
• Coordinate nursing student placements and uphold organizational ethics.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the applicable province or state.
• Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers.
• Education or experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, or long‑term care (preferred).
• Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, and time‑management abilities.
• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and ability to delegate safely.
• Maintain competencies as required by the governing college.
• Current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (within 6 months).

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications.
