Research Assistant – Fermentation

About the role

As a Research Assistant in Fermentation at Nestlé Research, you will design and deliver fermentation experiments that advance applied microbiology research and help translate scientific insights across scales. You will collaborate closely with scientists, technicians, students, and internal stakeholders to turn ideas into sustainable solutions for people, pets, and the planet.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver laboratory fermentation experiments across diverse microorganisms and bioreactor systems.
• Translate scientific insights across fermentation scales to support the path from research to practical application.
• Develop and implement new fermentation technologies to expand research capabilities and improve outcomes.
• Maintain reliable fermentation equipment and uphold robust laboratory practices for safe, high‑quality research.
• Coach technicians and students, fostering knowledge sharing and strengthening team performance.
• Communicate clear, actionable results to internal stakeholders for informed research decisions.

Required profile

• Strong applied knowledge of microbiology, biotechnology, and fermentation science.
• Hands‑on expertise with laboratory‑scale bioreactor systems and fermentation processes.
• Understanding of industrial‑scale fermentation and downstream processing.
• Effective collaboration in interdisciplinary teams with proactive and clear communication.
• Fluent English; French is an advantage.
