Research Intern

About the role

The Office of Africa at the International Trade Centre (ITC) is looking for a motivated Research Intern to support programme coordination, research, partnerships and operational activities across Africa. This three‑month internship offers the chance to contribute to initiatives on trade competitiveness, digital transformation, regional integration and inclusive economic development.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on economic trends, trade policy developments, regional integration processes and SME competitiveness in African countries.
• Support stakeholder mapping and analysis of development partners, regional institutions, private‑sector actors and trade support organisations.
• Research market trends, industry practices, innovation ecosystems and relevant policy developments.
• Assist in preparing project documents, concept notes, presentations, briefing materials and reports.
• Support coordination of programme implementation, partnerships, meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagement.
• Contribute to knowledge management, data organisation and communication activities related to ongoing initiatives.

Required profile

• Enrolled in the final academic year of a Bachelor’s programme or in a graduate school programme.
• Strong interest in international trade, development and research.
• Ability to work independently under the guidance of the Chief, Office of Africa and the Programme Officer.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion and gender equality.
