Safety Physician Oncology (100% Permanent)

About the role

Debiopharm is seeking a Safety Physician Oncology to join its Clinical Safety and Pharmacovigilance team in Lausanne. You will manage and evaluate safety risks for oncology and antibiotic products in development, supporting early‑phase studies and collaborating across functions.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and establish the safety profile of products in collaboration with internal experts and external vendors.
• Provide medical input for accelerated‑approval documents, investigator brochures, and development safety update reports.
• Conduct safety surveillance, including medical review of individual cases and ongoing signal detection.
• Oversee outsourced pharmacovigilance activities and ensure quality of vendor deliverables.
• Develop and lead implementation of a signal detection tool with clinical medicine, biometry, and pharmacology teams.
• Participate in IDMC meetings, safety task forces, and act as a member of study teams in a matrix environment.

Required profile

• MD with experience in clinical safety during early clinical phases in a global pharma or CRO setting.
• Minimum 5 years of direct clinical safety experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
• First experience in oncology drug development (early stages) is an asset.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, communication and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to prioritize, meet multiple deadlines and maintain high quality standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite.
• Appetite for digital tools and platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; French is a plus.
