Science Editor – 2026 State-of-Science Report (Consultant)

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) seeks a consultant to edit the final draft of the 2026 State-of-Science Report on Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs). The role involves ensuring the report is clear, accurate, and consistent for a broad audience while adhering to UNEP editorial standards.

Key responsibilities

• Edit the full report and its executive summary, guaranteeing user‑friendly language, correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Maintain consistency of terminology, units, cross‑references, and overall style throughout the document.
• Identify and flag any apparent factual inconsistencies for author review.
• Apply the UNEP style guide and ensure all editorial conventions are met.

Required profile

• Recognized first‑level university degree (or master’s degree with 8 years experience).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in scientific editing, technical writing, proofreading, or publishing (8 years with a master’s).
• Excellent command of advanced English, including scientific terminology and editorial principles.
• Proven editorial skills on environmental or scientific publications; experience with UNEP or comparable international organisations is desirable.
